XAT 2022 exam was held on January 2, 2022 in online mode at multiple exam centres in 72 cities from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. As per the XAT exam analysis 2022, the question paper was of easy to moderate difficutly level. The Essay Writing section has been re-introduced this year and extra 10 minutes were given for it. However, the essay will be evaluated after the candidate will be shortlisted for personal interview.

What is XAT Exam?
XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test) is a national-level management entrance examination conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur for admission to MBA/PGDM programmes. Apart from XLRI and 10 other XAMI member colleges, over 1,000 B-schools accept XAT scores for admission to their post-graduate management programmes. The XAT question paper consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) from Decision Making, Verbal & Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and General Knowledge. XAT exam is conducted on the first Sunday of every January. XAT cut offs for XLRI's PGDM-BM programme are sually around 95 percentile for male candidates and 92 percentile for female candidates.

XAT 2022 Exam Analysis and Student Reactions
XAT 2022 exam was of easy to moderate difficulty level. Among all the sections, QA-DI was tougher than the rest. Verbal and Decision Making sections were easy to moderate but GK was tough. The Essay Writing section had two topics - one on management and one on economy. Candidates had to write about 250 words on one of the two topics in 10 minutes. XAT Exam Pattern and Test Structure
XAT exam is conducted in online mode and the question paper consists of 100 MCQs to be solved in 180 minutes. However, the XAT 2022 exam pattern has been revised. Essay Writing has been reintorduced and the time duration has been increased by 10 minutes. There is sectional time-limit in XAT. Thus, candidates are advised to maintain adequate speed in all four sections so that they can solve the paper within the time-limit. Each correct attempt carries one mark and each incorrect attempt carries -0.25 marks. Here are the highlights of XAT exam pattern:

XAT Syllabus
XAT syllabus consists of all the important topics of Verbal & Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and General Knowledge. Decision Making is a unique section for which there is no syllabus. Preparation for it is based on previous years questions. Rest of the three subjects include important topics of their own area. Verbal & Logical Ability includes Reading Comprehension, English Grammar, Verbal Ability. In the Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, the topic include Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Set Theory, etc. And in the GK section the topics pertain to politics, culture, society, personalities, business, art & entertainment, sports, inventions, innovation, world, economy, science, technology, books, etc.

XAT 2022 Preparation Tips & Strategy
XAT 2022 preparation should ideally be for six to nine months. Being one of the tougher MBA entrance exams among its peers, XAT requires dedicated time and effort. It comprises four sections: Decision Making, Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation and General Knowledge.
In XAT, it is important to pay equal attention to all four sections as sectional cut offs play an important role in selection to XLRI, Jamshedpur. So, divide your study hours among these sections equally. Start with gaining conceptual clarity in each subject. You may want to first analyse the topics you are familiar with. Make a list of your strengths and weaknesses; then begin with strong areas. This will give you confidence in dealing with tough topics. - Join study groups online on platforms like Facebook, YouTube, Telegram and WhatsApp
- Get hold of XAT books and study material. These are available online and at coaching institutes
- Start with topics you are already familiar with and on which you have a good control
- After completing a topic or a concept, always solve two-three problems based on it to know if you have completely understood it
- Focus on completing XAT syllabus first and then move to solve XAT mock tests. Practice at least 25-30 mock tests for best performance

XAT exam result will be announced by the third week of January 2022. The test takers will be able to download their XAT 2022 result cum scorecard from the official website. Post the declaration of XAT 2022 result, XLRI Jamshedpur will release the admission cut offs. Check the steps to download XAT result below:

XLRI Selection Process Through XAT 2022
XLRI, Jamshedpur admission through XAT includes three stages: shortlisting of candidates, group discussion & personal interview and final selection.
Step 1: Shortlisting of candidates
The candidates will be shortlisted for group discussion and personal interview round of XLRI, Jamshedpur on the basis of their XAT 2022 score.
Step 2: Group Discussion and Personal Interview
XLRI, Jamshedpur will announce group discussion and personal interview schedule in January for selected candidates. The admission round will be held in various cities and the candidates will have to confirm their interview city online on the official website of XLRI within the stipulated time limit.

Step 3: Final Selection
Each candidate will be evaluated on the basis of their XAT 2022 score, GD/PI performance, academic history and other parameters for preparing the final merit list. Selected candidates will be called to complete the admission formalities.
Selection procedure of other institutes accepting XAT scores
Institutes accepting XAT score for admission to their MBA/PGDM programme, conduct their own application and admission process. While some institutes open their registration window much before the XAT exam is conducted, others start their registration process after the XAT result is announced.
